This is the website of Team Cookin With Gas combat robots. We went 3/2 at Motorama 2010 and took 2nd place in the Sportsman class with a rookie bot. Next fight will be October 9th at the Franlkin Institute.

Robot combat is a sport where people build robots to fight against each other. Fights are held several times a year throughout the country. It was made famous by the TV show Battlebots.

The robots are divided into 9 weight classes ranging in weight from 1 to 340lbs. They fight for three minutes in a bullet proof glass cube. The winner is determined by three judges or submission. Judges award three points for damage, three points for aggression and three points for controlling the fight. A knockout is scored if the other robot is immobilized for more than 30 seconds, or cannot continue the fight. Builders whose robots are losing can tap out if they don’t want their robot destroyed. If it is not a knockout, it goes to a judge’s decision.

Robot weapons include flippers, hammers, saws and wedges. Robots range in design from a two to six wheels and can be constructed of wood, plastic, or metal.
